Where You No Longer Are
There is your absence, vast and silent,
Like a moonless sky, an endless winter.
It stretches through my restless veins,
A long shiver that leads to nothing.
I still hear the echo of your voice,
A lost whisper between two silences,
Like a prayer drowned by the wind,
Like a last word left in exile.
The world still turns, but without light,
The days wither, pale and unbroken.
I still walk where you no longer are,
Chasing your shadow at the edge of a dream.
And maybe love is nothing more than this:
Carrying a ghost within one’s soul.
